Leading and Living When the Future Looks Dim

God has called us to be influencers for the Kingdom in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities. We can each attest that it’s not always smooth sailing. In fact, sometimes it’s downright dangerous! Often people don’t respond how we think they should and sin shows its ugly face, all while illness, death and heartache keep us humble. Sometimes we’re not sure how things will turn out and can even doubt whether it’s worth the effort to walk with God and help others.

When things get rough as followers of Christ, we have access to a precious commodity—hope.We know that God wrote our story’s script. He has told us what will happen and He is with us along the way to help and hold us up:

For I am the Lord, your God,

who takes hold of your right hand

and says to you, Do not fear;

I will help you (Isaiah 41:13 NIV).

If Christ asks us as ordinary people to join Him in His work of influencing those around us, He won’t just leave us to it. He will help us. He is our hope.

What obstacles or fears keep you from being the Kingdom influencer God wants you to be? How does God’s promise to help enable you to face those fears and obstacles?
