4 Tips for World-Changers

It’s true that we may often feel we are just ordinary men and women. Yet God has called all Believers to be influencers, even leaders, for the Kingdom where we live, work, and play® (Matthew 28:19,20). I really like this definition of a leader: “someone who is a step ahead and headed in the right direction.” Each of us as followers of Christ can help someone a step behind us to go in the direction of Christ. Each of us can be a “leader.”

If you want to be a leader and influencer in God’s work around you, consider these thought-provoking statements:

  1. We must know Christ through an abiding relationship with Him and that gives us power for ministry.
He saved us and we will meet Him in heaven, but He must also be our source of life and strength on the road between the now and then.
  1. “You cannot impart what you do not possess.”  – Howard Hendricks
John 15:5 says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (NIV).
  1. We are broken people. The power to do what we do is from God.
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us” (2 Corinthians 4:6,7 NIV). The most powerful influence is when people see God work through us as flawed, vulnerable conduits of His grace.
  1. Discipleship is at our core and we never grow out of doing it

We will never be better than what we actually practice ourselves, not just what we teach. Always be helping two or three others know Christ, walk with Him and help them be able to help still others.

Which of these four statements caught your attention? Where do you need to ask God to help you lead out of your influence?
