It’s true that we may often feel we are just ordinary men and women. Yet God has called all Believers to be influencers, even leaders, for the Kingdom where we live, work, and play® (Matthew 28:19,20). I really like this definition of a leader: “someone who is a step ahead and headed in the right direction.” Each of us as followers of Christ can help someone a step behind us to go in the direction of Christ. Each of us can be a “leader.”
If you want to be a leader and influencer in God’s work around you, consider these thought-provoking statements:
- We must know Christ through an abiding relationship with Him and that gives us power for ministry.
- “You cannot impart what you do not possess.” – Howard Hendricks
- We are broken people. The power to do what we do is from God.
- Discipleship is at our core and we never grow out of doing it
We will never be better than what we actually practice ourselves, not just what we teach. Always be helping two or three others know Christ, walk with Him and help them be able to help still others.
Which of these four statements caught your attention? Where do you need to ask God to help you lead out of your influence?
