Can You See Where You’re Going?

Not too long ago, I awoke in the middle of the night, needing to head to the bathroom. On my way back to bed, my eyes had not yet adjusted to the darkness and I veered off course, smashing into the corner of a dresser and cracking a rib. Ouch! Seeing clearly can keep us out of harm’s way!

Psalm 119:105 in The Message says, “By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.” God’s Word provides for us a clear lens that helps us to see clearly.

Our world is one filled with fog. The internet, radio, and television airwaves are filled with messages—some true, some distorted, and some harmful. We need clear eyesight, and the Bible has been a life-saving corrective lens for me over the years. What are the “lenses” through which you see the world? Are those “lenses” really formed from God’s truth or a gumbo we’ve mixed into an errant stew of ideas?
