Speed of Life—revealing where we put our hope and trust

I’ve come to believe that there is no clearer gauge of where we are putting our hope than the speed of our lives.

This past year, I’ve been reflecting on one of my favorite Andrew Murray books, “Waiting on God.” It once again dawned on me that in the Old Testament, a couple of different Hebrew words can be translated either “hope” or “wait”.

Psalm 31:24
In the NIV it reads:
Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.

In the ESV it reads:
Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the LORD!

Do you agree that the pace of our lives—our ability to slow down and wait on God—is an indicator of where we are putting our hope? Look at your life, and the pace of your life. What does it reveal about where you are putting your hope?
