The past couple of years, my wife, Pam, and I have become quite acquainted with the importance of foundations. When our home burned to the ground in the 2012 Waldo Canyon fire, we had to figure out if our home’s foundation was even usable again. Neither the insurance company nor the builder wanted to touch that foundation with a ten-foot pole! Why? The foundation is what everything else sits on. If it is shaky, everything else is vulnerable.

If you were to name one characteristic you think is the “foundation” of life as a follower of Jesus, what would you say? Would you say one of the fruit of the Spirit: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22,23 NIV)?
