The last couple of blog posts have focused on where we can find courage. Without a doubt, how we view our daily circumstances plays a huge role in whether we approach the day with courage or with fear.
Of greatest importance in how we each view our circumstances is how we personally view God and ourselves (what we considered in the last two posts).
If I view God as powerful, loving, in control of our circumstances and able to enter into them with us, it changes my perception of even the most challenging or horrible situations.
If I view myself as one loved by God, as one being made into His masterpiece, as an adopted son, a prince, and an heir of God, that affects my view of tragedy and desperate challenges.
As you’ll see in these verses on faith and courage in the midst of challenges, they rest on the power and love of God and on our identity as His people:
- Luke 12:22-34 – Jesus’ words when we face financial or material hardships.
- Isaiah 41:10 – God’s promise when we face threatening days.
- Psalm 27:1 – King David’s confession when pursued by evil people.
- Philippians 4:6-7 – The apostle Paul’s encouragement during stressful times.
Bring whatever challenge facing you today and run it through the filter of these verses. Pray for God’s peace and presence and for His courage to tackle each day with His help.
