Re-created for Good

God has made every one of His followers a masterpiece with an attention-getting purpose. Ephesians 2:10 explains:

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The word “workmanship” comes from the Greek word poiēma. It describes something that has been made by a creator, like the artistic expression of a beautiful tapestry or song. Here we learn that we are God’s—the artist’s—masterpiece! Sit and reflect on that for a moment. It feels good, doesn’t it?

As new creations in Christ Jesus, we have been remade into a work of art with a destiny. The end of the verse says we are created to “do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.” What forethought on the part of God! When He envisioned us before we were born, He saw the unique and beautiful lives and deeds we would bring to this world. He put his artistry to work in creating us for them. The hard work is done, and now all we must do is to live into this destiny!

What good works do you think He’s created you for?
