We’ve been looking at God’s revelation of Himself to the patriarchs and to Israel under Moses leadership. Now, we’ll fast forward to the New Testament. Once again, our mighty God reveals Himself, this time in the Gospel—a multifaceted gemstone of fulfilled promise and good news. We know more of God than those who have gone before us because of His special revelation of Jesus and the Gospel, as preserved in the Word of God.
The writer of Hebrews puts it this way:
The disciple John said,
And Paul says of the grace of God,
… but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:10).
It sobers me when we stop to embrace this gracious, mind-blowing truth. This amazing gemstone—the good new of Jesus—has provided for us: “…the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16).
How will we live as a result? What will a watching world see? How will we account for the blessing and stewardship we have received? What joy, peace, and confidence will be produced in our lives as a result?
Having considered God’s increasing revelation of Himself and His purposes among His people, in the next several blog posts we’ll consider powerful aspects of the Gospel. These aspects will alter our lives if we receive them for what they are—very good news!
