As followers of Jesus desiring to grow in our relationship with God, our beliefs about ourselves make a huge difference in how we live and our relationship with God. In the next few posts, I will talk about what the Scriptures say about who we are.
I was recently talking with the Lord about a relational are I need His transforming work in my life. It caused me to ponder the state of my posture before Him.
Let me ask you a question. As one who desires to grow in your relationship with God, which of these two seeming biblical postures ought to be the primary one you adopt each day?
1) Head Lowered– I’m a sinner saved by grace.
- Some people would characterize this as worm-theology, an over-emphasis of the reformed concept of total depravity
- What did Paul mean when, in 1 Timothy 1:15, he called himself the “chief of sinners”?OR
- What did Paul mean when, in 1 Timothy 1:15, he called himself the “chief of sinners”?OR
2) Head Held High– I’m a saint––a son/daughter of God––with all the inheritance of God.
- Some people would characterize this as adoption theology.
- I have confidence every minute because God sees me through the blood of Jesus and I am an adopted child of the King!
