Foundations of Courage – What has formed our self-perception?

So—Jesus says, The eye is the lamp of the body…” (Matthew 6:22ff). He says, “If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.”

What about how we view ourselves? When your mind goes into neutral or when you find yourself under stress, what do you say about yourself under your breath? Do you say, “I’m such a loser!” or “I’m so stupid.” or “I’ll never amount to anything.”

Where have those lies come from?

God says about every human being:

We realize that because of separation from God, without the redeeming work of Jesus, that our image is tarnished and that it only dimly reflects what God created us to be.But here’s what God says about those of us who have put our trust in Jesus and have begun to follow Him:


Hearing these things about how God views you, how does it make you feel? Practically, if these things are true, what does that mean for everyday life? Overall, do these truths give you primarily a positive or negative view of yourself?
